Maximizing Your Sunless Business

Posted:  August 2010

Whether you just started your airbrush business or have been doing this for awhile, you should always be thinking about how to gain more clientele. Being creative when marketing your business catches people’s attention. Lately, we have seen a resurgence of home parties. It’s a great way for friends to get together and a fantastic opportunity for the technician to maximize revenue and gain new clientele.

“Tantini” Parties

Think back to the days of candle and cookware home parties. A hostess invites her friends to come over for some tasty vittles while a representative presents products for sale. The hostess would then get a percentage of the revenue generated to be used towards her own purchases.

Our updated version features airbrush tanning and martinis. Your hostess provides the liquor and you provide the sunless tans. Make sure to bring a book of martini recipes just in case. It works perfectly for both salons and mobile technicians because it generates more revenue per single visit and can bring you new clientele.

The hostess will get a percentage (in the form of a purchase credit) from the services and products sold at the party. She can then use her credit towards the purchase of her own service or product. Salons may want to allow the hostess to use her credit in their salon for any service or product. The mobile technician may let the hostess use her credit for buying product or future airbrush services.

If you are a salon you can make your party more profitable by offering other salon services that won’t affect the sunless tan like mini manicures and pedicures (avoid the long soak in water and massage with lotion). If you are a mobile technician incorporate a beauty seminar that teaches how to apply makeup so that it blends with their new airbrush tan. You can also cover the latest beauty trends.

How To Get Your Tantini Party Hostess

In order to get the party started you need a hostess. Start by utilizing your existing client list. Send out emails advertising your new party concept. MailChimp is a great email service that allows you to send up to 500 emails a month FREE. Create a postcard advertisement that explains what a Tantini Party is and the benefits of hosting one. Vistaprint has great postcard templates at low prices. Pass out your postcards to existing clients, at bridal salons, coffee houses, bars, college common areas, etc. Give an extra incentive to the first 5 hostesses to book with you (i.e. bottle of lotion).

Who can resist spending time friends, drinking adult beverages, catching up on beauty trends and going home with a beautifully bronzed body?
