The Perfect Competition Tan Application

Posted:  March 2012

Bright lights will show red before brown. The way to get a deep brown look is to conduct multiple airbrush sessions (2 to 3 are recommended). When you consult with your client make sure they have time to devote for the sessions. Explain that your client should not use any lotions or moisturizers during this process. Below are the steps and colors to use when conducting airbrush applications for competition tans.

Application Session 1:  Have your client shower the night before (no lotions). The airbrush session should take place in the morning. Do not over saturate the skin or conduct multiple passes. Airbrush how you would normally. The client should not shower or get wet until the next morning.

Color Recommendation: Depending on your client’s skin tone you may want to mix Sol Potion No. 11.5 with Wicked or just use Wicked.

Application Session 2:  The client should take a shower in the morning (no lotion) and have the second application in the early afternoon. Again, do not over saturate the skin or conduct multiple passes. Airbrush how you would normally.

Color Recommendation:  Wicked

Application Session 3 (optional):  If the client feels they have achieved their desired darkness after the first 2 sessions you may not need to conduct the third session.  However if they need another application have your client shower in the morning (no lotion) and have the third application in the early afternoon.

Color Recommendation:  Wicked

The client can shower the next morning. After they shower for the final time, they should start the lotion regiment. Make sure to have them use Sol Potion Lotion as it works the best with airbrush tans.

This process will give your client a deep brown tan that will stand up to the stage lights and look great in the award photos!
